Volume 2 · From Every Nation
Afterword
A boy from the slave ship who became a bishop. A student who moved into the slums on Christmas Eve. A pastor who would not bow. The night watchman of Shanghai. A Sikh who tore up the Bible. A bishop who loved his enemy. An archbishop who read out the names on Sunday. A bank clerk who spoke to a continent.
With this second volume, sixteen people from eleven countries are in this book. They differed in almost everything: in language, in church, in how they prayed and how they spoke about the Bible. Some of them would have disagreed with each other. What they shared was that they stayed, even when it cost them.
There are many more. Behind every name in this book stand others whom no one wrote down: parents, friends, interpreters, church members who stayed. They too belong to that great multitude.
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues. (Revelation 7:9)
